Always Waiting
“The same one who descended is also the one who ascended above the heights of heaven, in order to begin the restoration and fulfillment of all things.” (Ephesians 4:10 TPT)
The nursery rhyme, “Monday’s Child,” assigns different personalities to people based on the day of the week they were born. I was born on a Saturday. Supposedly, every person born on a Saturday is hard working.
Recently, my sister pointed out something to me. I was born, not just on a normal Saturday, but on a Holy Saturday--the day between the death and resurrection of Jesus. She felt like that was somehow significant. I’ve been thinking about this.
Jesus endured crucifixion, descended into hell, and then, ascended into heaven. He went through all this for our sake--to begin the restoration and fulfillment of all things. Holy Saturday represents a time of waiting between the descent and the ascent.
I have spent most of my life waiting...
Waiting on loved ones
Waiting in the in-between
Waiting through uncertainty
Waiting for things to change
Over the years, I’ve become good at waiting. It’s not that I’ve grown in patience...more like I’ve developed fortitude.
“The Lord Yahweh empowers me, so I am not humiliated. For that reason, with holy determination, I will do his will and not be ashamed.” (Isaiah 50:7 TPT)
God has given me the privilege of suffering disgrace for His namesake. Even when I am humiliated, I trust the Lord will eventually vindicate me. Thus, I stay in the pain, unflinchingly. I pray that someone, somewhere, benefits from this.
The Lord created me to be hard working, diligent, and disciplined in the face of opposition. With holy determination, I stand firm in my commitment to do HIS will. I have learned to wait in between the rubble of destruction and the heights of resurrection. I was born for this!
Lord Yahweh, You have empowered me to do Your will. Help me to suffer with integrity. Never let me dishonor You. Fulfill the purpose for which You created me.

Liked this! Thankfully, “he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Christ.” Phil 1:6
Amen! I love your prayer! Patience is a virtue!
